“There is something that waits on our recognition to spring into being, bringing with it all the Power in the Universe.” — “Creative Mind and Success,” by Ernest Holmes, page 31 I have read this quote several times today and it gives me pause about what I’ve done with my life, my beingness. I think I understand what is being imparted, I have a lot of awareness, and intellectually I recognize this amazing Power. And while the thought in the quote exhilarates me, it also makes me feel sad and disappointed. With so many decades behind me in this lifetime, I feel like I am still waiting for a switch to be turned on. But I don’t know what it will take. When it does turn on, I’ll be this passionate person who takes the Power in the Universe, the power in her, and finally makes the most of her innate talents, life experiences, and character and soul attributes. Then I will make a meaningful contribution to the beings of this world, I will finally have accomplished whatever it was I was meant to in this lifetime on Planet Earth. I will be in bliss and feel one with my …Continue reading →
It’s Sunday, and after a busy day of catching up on personal administrative work (more to go), I’m going to take it easy and have today’s blog write itself! Well, that means, I’m going to share some quotes that I think are uplifting and meaningful. I read them in a feature of “Guideposts Magazine” (Feb/Mar 2022) called “The Up Side.” “With faith, you can move mountains. With doubt, you create them.” – Mickey Guyton “Every human being is born with the capacity for joy, and like the pilot light in your stove, it still burns within you even if you haven’t switched on the burners for a while.” – Ingrid Fetell Lee “The laws of physics applied to life: Objects in motion want to stay in motion. Keep moving in a positive direction and momentum will carry you forward.” – Jenny Serigano “All I know about time and space is that it never hurts to give someone a little more of each.” – Robert Brault
“Life is not just something to be endured. It is to be lived in joy, in a fullness without limit.” – “Discover a Richer Life,” by Ernest Holmes, page 58 Ernest Holmes is the founder of the Science of Mind spiritual philosophy, part of the greater New Thought movement. It is not a religion, although he speaks much about God, for that is all there is. It is so uplifting to hear a positive conception of Spirit and way of life, and espouses us to live in joy. This is so unlike (in my limited knowledge and experience of) the Judeo-Christian religions. In those philosophies, fear of God, and judgement of self and others is taught; such a stance diminishes self-esteem and a sense of well-being, preventing one from being their authentic self and promoting a fearful disposition in life and one’s relationships. One can feel imprisoned, restricted, and surely it’s a challenge to be happy and joyous, and to truly thrive. Such a way of being in the world with self, others, and God is not very healthy emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and eventually physically. Why would I want to subscribe to such a belief system?! Well, I never have. …Continue reading →
“The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, and peace.” – Galatians 5:22 “God’s Love always embraces us, God’s Wisdom is always within us, and God’s Joy is ours to share. “I dwell in the house of Love. My dwelling place is filled with peace and eternal calm. Love attends me in my home of the Soul, and Joy awaits upon me in the “Secret Place of the Most High. “…the sunlight of the Spirit shines through the clouds of depression.” – “365 Science of Mind: A Year of Daily Wisdom from Ernest Holmes,” May 30 The aforementioned makes me feel that I am not alone… and another reading this morning “confirmed” that 😊. “We are not alone—even if we find ourselves temporarily without human companionship.” – “In God’s Care*: Daily Meditations on Spirituality in Recovery,” May 30 *As We Understand God If at any time I feel alone, I can pray, meditate, read spiritual literature, reach out to friend, or help someone in need. I can also sing, which is food for my soul and my connection to Spirit. Soon the Divine Presence’s Love, Joy, and Peace will be upon me like the sunlight of the Spirit shines through …Continue reading →
I “found” a new friend—after four years—the other night! Curious? Ask me. David is a poet. He gets inspired by the Divine and words just flow from his fingertips onto the keyboard. I resonate with what Spirit has poured through him and wanted to share, what seem like messages to me, with others. David has granted me permission to post his poem, “Divine Love,” here. Divine Love By David Schuck From the Divine we were created, from the Divine love came forth. We are the created, we are the love, the spirit of the divine lives within us all. Love, pure love, power, pure power, given freely to all from the creator of all. All that which is true, all that which is pure, is truth from the spirit of love above. Set yourself free from your worldly worries and embrace the power of infinite love, of infinite power, of infinite happiness and joy.
Two of today’s readings were about freedom and joy, so I contemplated on where they were showing up in my life. “There is a Power operating through me; a Presence, inspiring, guiding, and sustaining me. Upon this Power, I place my reliance. “I know the Creative Law of Good is infinite and has all power to accomplish. I know Its whole desire for me is freedom and joy. Therefore, I declare that this freedom and joy are mine today… I know freedom and joy cannot be separated from me…” – “365 Science of Mind: A Year of Daily Wisdom from Ernest Holmes,” May 22 Last week I resigned from my job in the financial technical services field and tomorrow I start my new one in higher education. When not a sole entrepreneur, most of my career has been in the financial services field as a technical writer, analyst, and trainer. However, I did work in academia, but it was as an adjunct instructor in the field of computer science and information technology. Tomorrow I get to start working in a position melding it all: working in academia as a technical writing consultant and trainer on a financial transformation project. I …Continue reading →
I am so filled with joy and gratitude for Spirit’s computer lesson I received today! No, I wasn’t enrolled in software training or the like. My personal laptop had an Internet communication connection problem and I got through it with flying colors! That’s why I’m in my joy and gratitude (although the fact that the problem was resolved is nice too). When I say I got through it with flying colors I am referring to the way I conducted myself throughout the three-plus hours of troubleshooting… how I showed up to myself, the automated ISP tech support helper, the human ISP tech support person, and the Geek Squad rep. Since my work laptop was connecting to the Internet just fine, I knew the issue was specific to my personal laptop, so my first step was not to check with the Internet Service Provider (ISP). I started by researching and following troubleshooting tips online; they didn’t solve the problem. Nevertheless, I appreciated the online knowledge share, especially since I know the time and effort that goes into creating such content. I remained calm and peaceful, moving onto the next step. I contacted the ISP so they could check the Wi-Fi router …Continue reading →
In the wee hours of the morning while still in bed, Spirit put into my mind today’s blog post, apparently a continuation of yesterday’s, Be Loving. Be loving. Be loving. Be loving. Be. Be. Be. Just be! When I Just Be, I am in the present moment, I am conscious of Spirit, of Oneness. All that exists at that time are the attributes of Spirit and, by extension, the attributes of me and you. All There Is includes Truth, Compassion, Life, Peace, Joy, Hope, and, of course, Love. When we Just Be, we Love.
For a little change of pace, I thought I’d be inspired by another writer of spiritual wisdom and chose Hafiz. Making the Rounds and Causing Trouble The words renounce and discipline were making the rounds and causing trouble, as some might expect. Some newlyweds came to me to discuss the threat this posed. They looked at me with serious faces and sincerely asked, Does God want us to renounce the sweet pleasures our bodies and the earth may give? And I replied, Do what most enables you to fly, and brings a feeling to the heart that makes you glad to be alive. My guests then said, Is it really that simple? And I said, Why not? – “A Year with Hafiz: Daily Contemplations,” May 2, by Daniel Ladinsky Sometimes Life is really that simple. We’re often indoctrinated with man-made concepts that may bear little resemblance to Reality, and make our lives and relationships complicated. What God wants for us is simple. The Divine is a Force for Good and really only wants us to be happy, to enjoy life, to have our hearts sing in jubilation and joy. Let’s embrace that and fly, fly, fly!
The topic for the month of May in the book “365 Science of Mind: A Year of Daily Wisdom from Ernest Holmes” is joy. I’m excited about the topic and look forward to the daily readings. Below are quotes from the month’s opening page: Joy is the emotion excited by the expectancy of good. – Ernest Holmes Joy has come to live with me. How can I be sad? I do so love Thy presence, which is joy within me. – Ernest Homes Be like the bird That, pausing in her flight Awhile on boughs too slight, Feels them give way Beneath her and yet sings, Knowing that she hath wings. – Victor Hugo Happiness is a butterfly, which, when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you. – Nathaniel Hawthorne Joy is the realization of the truth of one-ness, the oneness of our soul with the supreme love. – Rabindranath Tagore
