Vessels for God

It’s Sunday evening and I’m writing from the “Big City”—Phoenix, AZ. I don’t come here often since moving back north to a more rural landscape and smaller population. But I had good reason: a house concert featuring two of my favorite local New Thought singers who I came to know through Science of Mind and Unity. It’s amazing how many years have passed since we first met! I met Cerise when I initially moved from Santa Fe to Phoenix back in 2003. She was a young, married woman in her 20s; now she is 42 years old, a mother of three, tour operator and guide, in addition to being a singer and songwriter. Jeanne came into my life when I moved to Phoenix a second time, relocating from Sedona in 2015; we met when she sang at Unity of Mesa. She became my Naam Yoga teacher, and my client briefly; these days she ministers in her own church, in addition to working full-time in the corporate world, studying to be ordained as a Unity minister, and, of course, writing songs and singing. A Light to All

“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” —Helen Keller Today marks four years since my dear friend Samara passed over to the other side. I’ve really been thinking about her a lot in the last two weeks or so. She was very intuitive, a trait I strive to develop. She was about eight years’ older than me and quite a wise woman; hence, she was like an older sister to me. That was delightful especially since I’d never had a sister. We met in NYC and it was clearly a Spirit-orchestrated coming together, so meant to be—even if our meeting was delayed a bit. I was researching colonic hydrotherapy and seeking a colon therapist; Samara was the only professional to return my call. After being a devout atheist for many years, thanks to joining (and working) a 12 Step program, I was on a conscious spiritual path for about 18 months when we met. All Things Can Be Mended

The following quote was read during today’s meditation at my spiritual center, and I thought it most apropos for these times: “Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things break. And all things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world waits in darkness for the light that is you.” – L.R. Knost There surely is so much brokenness evident in today’s world. On quite a major, visible scale, there is Putin viciously attacking Ukraine with no cause… COVID still in our midst… the increasing lack of reason and character in politics… the increasing cost of living and the supply chain still in chaos… powerful climate changes… I can feel mighty discouraged; I am reading the news less and less to help fend off my dismay. I’m reading spiritual literature more to bolster my soul and attitude. I will say that those of us on the planet during these times surely signed up for a wild time! Emissaries of Love and Spirit

We expressed viewpoints on things of this world and things about other realms and Spirit. We were supportive of one another as concerns were expressed about aging, finances, and companionship. Due to my work experiences, I was able to provide some information that would perhaps help my friend as he navigates through some current career matters. Prayer for Abundance of Love

I came across some prayers from when I had had an Akashic  Records reading consultation a few years back. The Akashic Records are an energetic library of information that contain the details of your soul and its journey. The Akashic energy holds all your thoughts, feelings, actions, and deeds spanning through past lives, present incarnations, and future possibilities. On my computer there was a prayer for abundance of love. I think it is timely for me to read regularly for a while as I’m working on manifesting more loving and supportive friendships as well as a sacred, loving life partnership. This prayer is from a book published by Lisa Barnett. Prayer for Abundance of Love Mother, Father, Goddess, God, please support me as I open to the flow that is abundance. Please take me outside of time and space, to the origin of anv beliefs, ideas and feelings that I hold about being Loveable. Loving Actions

It’s life threatening, in fact, because it deadens our spirit and the spirit of the person we direct it at. “An act of love is an invitation to come alive. We have the opportunity to celebrate life through loving actions toward others. Pass It On

I got into recovery seeking help with my eating disorder. That help came through in the form of the Twelve Steps, which included finding a Power greater than myself and being involved in the fellowship. Hence, I embarked—more like was thrust (happily)—onto my conscious spiritual journey. At that time, I had barely even heard the word ‘spirituality’ and surely did not see myself as holy nor expected my life to change in all areas except hopefully in the food department. Sending Love

Once again some morning readings had my mind wandering to the violence and upheaval going on in the world today. “Let us so live that we may retire at night in peace, knowing that no harm can come to the soul; that we may rise in the morning renewed in body and in mind, with a brighter outlook, a happier expectation and a clearer joy, looking upon all with love, condemning none and blessing even those who seek to injure us.” – “The Science of Mind,” by Ernest Holmes, page 435 While I appreciate knowing that my soul cannot be harmed, the human body can be. Hence, I’m not sure how much solace such a thought would bring the people in Ukraine these days. And, I’m not sure those fleeing and those fighting are getting rest of any sort and thus not feeling renewed in body and in mind. Hopefully the moral support they are receiving is helping them to keep a bright outlook and expect a happier future. Love and Oneness

In the second week of Putin’s invasion of the Ukraine, a couple of of today’s morning readings were once again about us being one and loving the different infinite expressions of Spirit manifested in individual people. The following quote is from the March 5, 2022 Daily Guide in “Science of Mind Magazine.” The author, Rev. Steph St. Amand, began with writing about the question we are asked as youngsters: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Actor? Journalist? Zoologist? Rock star? The pressure of striving and achieving can be great and veer us off the path we were truly meant to follow. Here’s what she’d say now: “…when I grow up, I want to be happy. Living an authentic life… “The lofty, sacred purpose before each of us is to be present for the moment before us and shine a light on the illusion that we are separate from one another or separate from Sprit. Affirmation: “I listen to the God-voice inside me, cheering me on to my highest expression. The Spiritual Principle of Love

I’ve really been immersed in Science of Mind philosophy on a daily basis, especially so with participating in a five-week course in its spiritual principles, which ended this evening. I will miss it. In brief, the spiritual principles of Science of Mind are: 1. Oneness 2. Love 3. Creation 4. Threefold Nature 5. Creative Process 6. Spiritual Laws 7. Spiritual Beings 8. Freedom 9. Heaven 10. Eternal Life Throughout the course I chose to focus on the spiritual principle of Love, “…the self-givingness of Universal Spirit through Its desire to express itself in terms of creation. Love is the impulse and Law is the way of creation.” (from “Spiritual Principles and Practices,” by Centers for Spiritual Living™, Student Workbook, page 39). My final project centered on my goal and affirmation “I am in a sacred, loving life partnership” and I created a vision board of what it looks like being in that partnership, feeling it in the present moment.
